Designation: System Engineer

Job Description: Responsible for Administering and maintaining Sun Enterprise Server (Entry Level and Mid Range).
The key responsibility is to Core administrations of Unix Operating System- configure and support for servers and workstations.
The activities are Installing Unix Operating system, Updating patches, User management, bug fixing and updating the current system configurations, disk management, providing network services and configuring Veritas Products.

Desired Profile: Installation of O.S-Unix flavour O.S (Sun Solaris,),
Sun Solaris, Linux, HP (Method-Flash, Jumpstart Installation, kickstart, HP Ignite, CDROM, NFS, FTP)
Setting up of Sun Sparc Machine, Trobleshooting H/W & O.S related issues.
File System- Organization, mounting, Automounting, File types, Setting permission & Disk quotas.
Disk Management- Slicing/Partioning, Formatting, Implement. of SVM/LVM using RAID(0,1,3,5) tech
User & Groups- addition/ deletion/ modification, managing user rights, assigning group policy to users
Package Administration- Installation, upgradation & erasing the packages/ Opensource/ patch/ driver, Network Configuration, Swap Mgmt., Core Files, Core Dumps, Using rcp, rsh, rlogin, telnet, SSH
Configuring and maintaining network services- NFS AutoFS, DNS, DHCP, NIS, NIS+, FTP, Samba
Webserver- Apache installation and Configuration, Set up & configured virtual hosts.
System & Data Security- Setting up sticky bit, Setuid, Setgid, ACL, Impl.of TCP Wrappers & RBAC.
Setting up H/W Printer, Installing, Configuring & administering printer, Sharing the network printers
Zones- Installation, Configuration & administration of the zones, Setting up Schedulling jobs.
Basic Knowledge of Writing Shell Scripting to accomplish day-to-day System Administration tasks.
Understanding of DAS, NAS and SAN Storage, Setting & Configuring Quantum made NAS Storage
Taking manual backup/restore using tar,cpio & flavor specific commands ,Tape drive backup, Scheduling backup, Taking online backups and restoring backups using vxdump and vxrestore command on tape drive and disk, Root File System Backup.
