Technical Lead, System Engineer / Senior System Engineer.
Tech Lead with 5-10 years of industry experience
Roles and Responsibilities:
The job involves building and configuring new hosts, setup, monitoring, creating scripts and tools that automate routine procedures, capacity planning, pro-actively identifying issues and fixing them. The ideal candidate would be a UNIX geek with solid skills in Perl and Shell Scipting, with good understanding of networking technologies and system performance issues. He or she must possess excellent organizational and communications skills, must be a quick and creative problem solver, and must be content with a very challenging, high-paced environment, often requiring immediate response to issues with production systems.
Required Skills:
- Unix systems and concepts
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Scripting skills (shell/perl)
- Concepts of TCP/IP networking, web servers, load balancers
- Monitoring tools
Experience in managing MYSQL databases is a plus.
System Engineer / Senior System Engineer / Tech Lead with 2-10 years of UNIX and Linux administration experience:
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Administer Linux clusters, monitor their health and performance
- Develop tools to automate the deployment, administration and monitoring of a large-scale Linux envirnment
- Gain deep application-level knowledge of the serving systems as well as contributing to their overall design
- Work with development teams to harden, enhance and generally improve the operability of our systems
- Assist in the configuration / build-out of new deployments to facilitate our constant growth
- Contribute to the documentation of our complex environment
- Participate in a 12×7 (daylight hours) on-call pager rotation
Required Skills:
- Extensive system administration background
- Strong Perl programming skills
- Experience in handling and monitoring production environment
- Experience with scripting in Perl, Shell, MySQL databases, DNS, Squid
- Experience in handling Web Applications
- Experience in working with development teams
- Experience in administering large-scale UNIX installations (ISP background a plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
