Procurve Software Engineers play lead roles in multi-discipline teams working on new products and solutions. This includes active involvement in product feature definition, hardware feature requirements, hardware bringup, customer documentation, future technology integration, and available software leverage. All projects involve coordination with internal and external development teams. Enabling others is as important as personal contribution. The primary function of the position is to design, implement, test and validate embedded software for network hardware systems offered by the ProCurve Networking Business.

Software Engineers play lead roles in multi-discipline teams working on new products and solutions. You'll be part of a team that designs, implements, tests, and validates software for HP ProCurve networking products.
As a software engineer in the ProCurve Networking Business, you will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, testing, and quality/performance of software solutions for ProCurve products like switches and routers. This includes the creation and implementation of solutions that involve both common and complex SW development/test and that meet business and product needs, the creation of meaningful and challenging schedules and the incorporation of customer knowledge and the application of technology to create intellectual property that differentiates ProCurve from our competitors. You participate in, and some cases lead, technical teams providing direction and facilitating team direction and decision making. You have obtained technical expertise in one or more areas and exercise independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to determine best methods for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. You provide guidance to others through mentor relationships and reviews. You help to drive major breakthroughs in product cost and TTM through innovative solutions, prototype development, process improvements, and individual contribution.
Desired Profile
Education:
Bachelor's (undergraduate), Master's (graduate), or Ph.D. (post graduate) degree in a technical discipline (e.g. computer science, information technology, engineering, math, physics, etc.)
Experience and knowledge
* Experience in software development using RTOS like VxWorks, embedded Linux, ..etc
* Excellent programming skills in C - expertise in system development & debugging for networking products
* Knowledge of networking protocols at Layer2 and Layer3 levels
* Any previous experience in working on networking products / protocols will be an added advantage
Additional Skills
Software development and de-bugging skills
Ability to communicate and colloborate with geographically dispersed teams
